fib Symposium in Maastricht

 

Online registrations for the next fib Symposium “High-tech concrete: Where technology and engineering meet!” are open: please register here.

The Symposium will take place at the MECC in Maastricht, Netherlands from 12 June to 14 June 2017.

The topics include materials technology; modelling, testing and design; special loadings; safety, reliability and codes; existing concrete structures; durability and life time; sustainability; innovative building concepts; challenging projects and historic concrete.

On this occasion, the award ceremony for the Achievement Award for Young Engineers (AAYE) in memory of A.S.G. Bruggeling will take place.

FRP short course in Ghent

 

This course provides an occasion to focus on the design and application of FRP reinforcement both in new and existing structures. It is taught by international experts, including Prof. György L. Balázs, Dr. Christoph Czaderski, Prof. Renata Kotynia, Prof. Stijn Matthys, Prof. Joaquim A. O. Barros, Pros. Lluis Torres, Dr. Maurizion Guadagnini and Prof. Valter Carvelli.

This course will take place on 23-27 January 2017 at Ghent University. The organisers are: fib (Task Group 5.1 and Commission 5), the Marie Curie project ‘endure’ and COST action TU1207, with the support of the Engineering Society ie-net, the Belgian Concrete Society and the UGent Institute for Post-Academic Education.

Structural Concrete, Issue 4, December 2016

 

The December 2016 issue of the fib’s Structural Concrete journal is available via the Wiley Online Library. Members can also access the journal by going to the ‘Members only’ section of the fib website and clicking on the ‘Wiley Online Library’ link.

The December issue of fib-news is available for downloading on the journal page of the fib website. It features articles on the 11th PhD Symposium held in Tokyo in August 2016, the 8th International Conference on Concrete under Severe Conditions Environment & Loading, fib Bulletin 79 “Fibre-reinforced concrete: from design to structural applications”, Commission 7: Sustainability and the joint Abcic-fib Overview through the new fib Planning and Design Handbook on Precast Building Structures – Emphasizing Multi-Story and Tall Buildings in São Paulo, Brazil.

 

 

New addition to the fib Secretariat

 

Ms. Corinne Bottollier-Dépois has recently joined the fib Secretariat team as Publication Specialist. She is also in charge of developing the new fib website. Corinne Bottollier, Marie Reymond in Communications and Events and Joëlle Debey in Administration will be happy to help you with any questions that may arise.
