fib Bulletin 77:  Corrugated-steel-web bridges

fib Bulletin 77 Corrugated-steel-web bridges is now available in the fib’s online store.  Bulletin 77 offers the latest technical and theoretical information about corrugated-steel-web construction processes as well as in-depth studies of bridges in Japan, France and Germany.

 

fib 2016 Symposium Cape Town — Online registration open

Online registration is now open for the fib’s 2016 Symposium, Performance-based approaches for concrete structures, which will be held in Cape Town, South Africa. The symposium will be held from 21 to 23 November 2016 at the UCT Graduate School of Business (GSB).  The symposium will address themes such as modelling and testing of concrete properties, materials technology, structural design aspects, durability and service life, sustainability aspects, and construction systems and will include keynote presentations by leading international experts.  Early bird registration is available until 30 June 2016.  Please visit the symposium website for information on fees and to register.

 

Structural Concrete journal, Issue 1 March 2016

 

The March 2016 issue of the fib’s Structural Concrete journal is available to fib members via the Wiley Online Library.  Members can access the journal by going to the ‘Members only’ section of the fib website and clicking on the ‘Wiley Online Library’ link.

The March 2016 issue of fib-news is available for downloading on the journal page of the fib website.  It features aritcles on the fib’s MC2020 initiative, the fib’s new Secretary General, the fib-ACI memorandum of cooperation, the focus and activities of fib’s Commission 4 – Concrete and Concrete Technology, the Betontage Asia 2015 conference in Shanghai, and the 4th International Workshop on Concrete Spalling due to Fire Exposure.

 

ACI Awards for fib members

fib members Frank J. Vecchio of the University of Toronto, Canada, and Stefano Pampanin of the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, have received recognition from the American Concrete Institute (ACI) for their excellence in the domain of structural engineering. Professor Vecchio received the Joe W. Kelly Award for his outstanding contribution to education in the broad field of concrete. Professor Pampanin obtained the ACI Design Award, which recognizes advanced concepts and techniques applied to a specific design project.
